It hasn't worked since I went to 2010 in both MEP & Navis Manage 2010....

I have tried reinstalling the latest object enabler from map-software, as well as manually putting the .dbx file into the Navis folder.

I'm going to be pissed if I go to a meeting this Friday unprepared and looking stupid...  Arrgghhh

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

It has been discussed already...

After installing the enabler, run NAVIS and open a 2010 DWG file and see if that doesn't fix it...

If not, then do the DBX solution also mention here elsewhere...

I have 4 installations where NAVIS did not worked at first install, but after doing the fixes it works on all 4 PCs...

I had to do this to get it to upgrade correctly to 2010 (for both Autocad and Navis).

I installed the AEC object enabler from Autodesk, then reinstalled the MAP enabler. Then, open the DWG file directly the first time, from Navisworks.

I have just updated all my stations to AutoCAD 2010x64 and Navis Manage 2010x64
What I did is install the latest object enabler from map. Than open AutoCAD and unload the "MAPcadduct18x64.arx". Then manually load the" MAPcadduct18x64.dbx" from here "C:\Program Files\Common Files\MAP-Software". Then close AutoCAD and open Navis. This should let you look at dwg's in Navis

Note: Load "MAPcadduct18.dbx" if your running 32bit software.

Awesome CaddMan! I dont know why that works but it does.

Can you explain why just running the enabler itself isnt enough for Navis to display the objects? What happens when you run the extra steps you mentioned that makes it work?

Not sure why just running the enabler dosen't work. I found this work around about a year ago, I guess by running the dbx in AutoCAD it sets the enabler to read CadDuct without having the arx running. Then that lets Navis see it. Just my guess though !!!

For those that only ran the enabler and then it didn't work.... Was it a NAVIS (.nwf) file that y'all tried to open after installation... or actually a CAD (.dwg) file???

I'm still trying to figure out if that is the cause...

I tried an actual .dwg file.... as well as other .nwd and .nwf files....

but no luck until I used the process mentioned above.

weird.... but still I would think MAP has to see why the OE is not installing correctly at least on my case on Windows 7 64 bit ...

I had the same problem what I ended up doing was to copy my MAPcadduct18x64.dbx file to my "C "drive Program files - Autodesk - Navisworks Manage 2010, and paste in there this solved my problem. I am using a 64 bit system not sure which dbx file to use for 32 bit.

I need some serious help with this. NONE of these options are working for me.
I can see the objects in Navis. I can list them, they come in as solids and not wire frame. The major problem, and this is going to cause a serious problem on a project I just started, is that the "cad-duct" tab when you check the properties does not appear. They all list as map-solids and there is no cad-duct tab. However everyone else in the navis training, 20 machines that do NOT have cad-duct on them LIST cad-duct as a tab.

Can you tell use which loader is it using or the Acad software? The .dll seems to be not registered.Have a look at this pic and use it to find the .dll on your machine and when found use the command at start/run/.....make sure you edit the correct path.

regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Navisworks Manage 2010\lcdbx2010\MapsComW18x64.dll"

Those are the exact same files I have in that location, the 2009 and 2008 lcdbx folders are also there with the appropriate files. However the dates of those files are 5/28/209 and not the dates you have.

2010 autocad/mep/revit
2010 Navis
and Lock 18
all 64 bit on obviously a 65 bit machine, Dell Precision M6300

I re-ran the regsrv32 and recieved an error:
The module "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Navisworks Manage 2010\lcdbx2010\MapCadduct18x64.dbx" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.

Make sure that "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Navisworks Manage 2010\lcdbx2010\MapCadduct18x64.dbx" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again.

SO>....... I am not sure what the problem is now.

Any sugestions?

I would go to the control panel and unistall the old object enabler than run the new one.I take it that that you tryed to register the .dll and not the dbx?Sometimes also you will have to manually search for all these files afterwards and delete .

I uninstalled the object enabler entirely. I ran the regsrv32 against the dbx as you see above not the dll. Unless you are refering to the step within the autocad appload commend, I do not recall which I tried there.

And we were trying to use the current object enabler from the get go. However the instructions I was reading was that any machine running cad-duct should not actually install the object enabler.

If you want to see properties you have to register the .dll not the .dbx.

Ok, everything above was refering to th dbx, now I just used regsrv32 to load the dll and got this result:

The Module ""C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Navisworks Manage 2010\lcdbx2010\MapsComW 18x64.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005

For more information about this problem, search online using the error code as a search item.

So not sure what is going on now as it is still not reading cad-duct as cad-duct items and only displays very minimal information relating to them being cad-solids items and some not even relating it that way.

The Value of the entity "Types" is either map-solid or subentitiy

Not sure what you mean by Navis Facility? It is a company computer and the company owns all th software, the licence is on "borrow" while I am away from the office for the week and there anti-virus software on the system so I will need to figure out how to disable it. What is uac?

Training in a navis class on my corporate pc and not their class pc. Which is where I am discovering this problem. Everyone else on the "training" pc's provided by autodesk are working just fine, other than crashing because they are not the best pc's... But doesn't cmd.exe bypass antivirus? asn I don't know if it is even running on this system, nothing shows in the startup and I do not see anything that looks like antivirus in task manager either.

Did you after unistalling do a search for all Map.dll and Map .dbx? There is some suggestion that it could also be something to do with windows gen Advantage crude. You have open a dwg in Autocad and unloaded the arx and loaded the .dbx? and restarted?

Correct I did all of that. The dbx and dll files are all the same files I manually copied the new ones from the new enabler over all of the old ones in the correct locations. And still nothing.

Now I did notice another problem. One of the computers that CAN see the cad-duct tab and properties information inside one of the cad files someone else provided from some other cad-duct based system. HOWEVER that very same computer actually can only see the map-solids and NO cad-duct tab from MY drawings output from my CAD-DUCT software, lock 18 etc etc...

GO FIGURE? now I am at a total loss.

Just to follow up this is what I did.
1. Re-installed the latest cadduct object enabler.
2. unloaded the arx file in autocad and loaded the dbx from :
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Navisworks Manage 2010\lcdbx2010\MapCadduct18x64.dbx
3. Went back into autocad and checked that the arx file re-loaded appropriatly.
4. Registered the dll file as follows:
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Navisworks Manage 2010\lcdbx2010\MapsComW18x64.dll"

Worked perfect the first time. And all was well with Navis.

I also noticed that for some reason I had to delete the nwc template files because it seems to keep the wireframe information. Once deleted they were fine.

Thanks again for the assistance.
