I'm told the building3dcontent.com site is only for the UK b/c it's all metric.

All of us on this side of teh water needs to stop getting updates etc. about stuff available for the other side. I was excited that something was finally going to happen with a data site. I guess we'll keep waiting. If the rest of the world would just catch up with us and use the imperial system. < as I roll on the floor laughing>.

I don't see why by now, MAP hasn't just combined all their stuff into 1 site and when you get there, you can click to go to UK or USA. Seems like the UK and USA stuff is split up where some people say "go here and get this" but it's not available to everyone.

From what little I understand MAP is the UK ( or maybe Australia) creator of the actual software and distributes to the UK. TSI/MAP is the American sales group ( middle man). That is why we have to get our updtaes from TSI and not MAP. Very confusing if your brain is as little as mine.

that's what I'm saying...they're separate yet the same, with different yet the same names...confusing.

Many are actually confused to who makes it. I have had multiple people refer to it as TSI Software.

MAP (Micro Application Packages) is in Blackpool, England the software is written and is owned by them! This includes all dongle codes and keys! (TSI needs codes from MAP as well)
TSI = Is Sales and Support to USA and Australia.(Middle Man)
The correct procedure is Buy from TSI and any problems call TSI.
MAP will continue to Code a Awesome Software!
building3dcontent.com is a subsidiary of TSI and trying to from what I believe is get paid for making models for different vendors as most a just creating for Revit.

Is this site currently working or is it still under construction? |
Still under construction. Building-Data.net is a subsidiary of TSI. The purpose of Building-Data.net is to provide Managed Data Content for MAP software products. At the User Group Meeting 2009 I announced that we would post data starting in December of 2009. As we approached the date TSI was working with two customers in the 4th Quarter of 2009 that made us postpone the release of the data. These two installs required TSI to take new data into an existing (HVAC and Pipe) database. The process was very labor intensive and required far too much work for the average User to manually combine two sets of data in to one. Given the scale (number of items) of the Building-Data content we could not broadly release new data until we had time to work with MAP to identify the issues and for MAP to provided programming solution to make the process work for all customers.
For the past eight months TSI and MAP have been working to provide a solution that addresses merging existing and new items together into a customer database with minimal effect on existing data content. As a result of several trips to the UK, MAP is in the process of provided an excellent software solution to this complex issue. TSI is working with the pre-beta software now in preparation for the next MAP software release. Building Data is not willing to release content to existing customers until we have had time to beta test the software and data together in release.

Thanks for the update Jim. It is good to know what is happening so we can pass it on to upper management when asked.

Exactly.
I heard about it at the user group meeting last year and remember it was supposed to be released near the end of the year.
Haven't heard much about it since then...Thank you for the update.
