It has something to do with CID#937

Similar Issue here...
http://www.xtracad.com/forum/index.php/topic,9818.msg66725.html#msg66725

Has the Item the SubAssembly is referencing been moved/renamed in your Database? Not displaying for me either, nothing in Edit Item, .maj export, nwc etc etc. Graphically, its gone.

I placed one of my SubAssemblies into your drawing, closed and reopened, it was still there.

Appears to be an issue with the Assembly not he drawing. What is supposed to be in the Assembly?

it is based on CID#937, went back again to my backup file and at least one more is missing. go figure. Logged a support case with autodesk and TSI since I cant seem to tolerate stuff coming up missing and have to go back and figure out what all I have changed since the last autosave.  My autosave is set for every 20 minutes, but at best the autosave function is pretty hit and miss (maybe because it uses Microsoft minutes)

file has not been moved or renamed in the main database

Autosave is worthless, best IMHO is the designer saving often.
Or add save to another command that you use often.

I have used the "human Autosave" ever since started on CAD some over 20 years ago... by far the most reliable way to protect your work, here is how I go at it, every time you make quite a few changes to the job, save, moved something, save, re-routed something, save, added plot sheets, save, edited a size, save... I am so used to it that it has become second hand thing for me... if ever something happens (rarely) I'm only loosing like 10 to 15 minutes worth of work...

Maybe autodesk they could add a working autosave to the wish list, or for that matter all the other sh** that doesn't work, or better yet go through the whole program and clean it up (-$$$$ for autodesk) instead of adding worthless features (+$$$$$ for autodesk), Maybe re-release version 10 or 11 as it was rock-solid, fast, and productive especially with a customized 16 button digitizer. That was when we squinted at a tiny monitor or if you were lucky a huge 19" 150 lb monitor.

Thank you for contacting Autodesk Support.

To assist with the items not displaying in the model but still reporting as being present. Checking the drawing file the CID for these items is CID 937 the sub assembly pattern, there was a known issue which could caused the assemblies to disappear, here are the details and a workaround for CADmep 2014:

Issue: Subassembly content that was part of the CADmep model is found to be missing from the drawing file.

Cause: Selecting a subassembly as one of the open ends for the "F2E" (Fill 2 Ends) command, on saving and reopening the assembly has been removed.

Solution: The solution is to avoid selecting subassemblies when using Fill 2 Ends. As a workaround:
1.   Temporarily swap the assembly with another item of the same end dimensions.
2.   Use the replacement item for the Fill 2 Ends selection
3.   Replace the assembly
On saving the drawing file and reopening the assembly should remain.

The fix was included in CADmep 2016 SP1 and 2015 SP5 but as far as I can see a fix was not able to be included for the CADmep 2014 version. As the example drawing reported the CADmep 2014 initial release I would suggest checking the Autodesk Application manager and apply any updates, and use the workaround until upgrading to CADmep 2015 or 2016 where the problem should be resolved
